It is worth knowing how much you will pay for participating in the CO2 emissions rally

Fast calculation. Assuming the EUR / EUR exchange rate at 4.59 PLN / EUR and the approximate influence of the CO2 price on the electricity price at 0.8, we get the approximate cost of CO2 in PLN for each MWh of energy we consume - 290 PLN / MWh.

Pricing in the energy sector. Knowledge worth millions.

If we were to assess the condition of the Polish energy sector based on the thesis @Warren Buffett cited above, one would have the impression that the national champions are doing great. And it probably is so, since the market shares of the main (state-owned) sellers have changed slightly over the years, regardless of the pricing strategies implemented. The experience of the last 15 years in electricity trading allows us to conclude that most sellers use the practice of average (let's say - market) prices, but there are also those whose pricing policy always assumes selling at high prices. The latter can admit that the strategy of high prices (despite selling the same electricity with service quality not different from competitors) is a bull's-eye, since numerous price increases did not contribute to the decline in sales.

December 17. About the day when the light goes out in Poland

We will probably find out what level of increases we will actually face next year on Friday 17 December - this is the last day on which the President of the Energy Regulatory Office may decide to approve the tariffs so that the new prices will apply from the first day of the new year. Considering the scale of the planned increases, the lights will go out in many Polish houses.

How to understand energy prices? It is worth doing this to lower your electricity bills

In many cases, it is enough to look around the market and change the energy supplier. More advanced players manage to "squeeze" the last zloty from the sellers.
But is it really the last zloty? In order to answer this question, one should deal with the breakdown of the energy price into its individual components and it is there that one should look for areas for further savings. It turns out that we can negotiate not only the seller's margin, but also the cost of energy, property rights, balancing or any risks included in the price calculation.
If you are a great entrepreneur, you have certainly already encountered the possibility of purchasing energy based on various types of price indices (e.g. offers indexed with the prices of the futures market or the SPOT market). And did you know that sellers can hide their earnings in mysterious P / K / ... indices needed to determine the profile of the energy consumed by your company? The size of these indicators can also be negotiated.

You can tell a lot, but it is worth acting. In 2022, most entrepreneurs will receive the largest historical bills. This is a good time to ask yourself how to lower them.

Risk in the price of electricity and natural gas. How to avoid it?

In the last quarter of 2021, entrepreneurs contract energy for next year at prices exceeding PLN 500 / MWh. For many companies, this means even a twofold increase in the account y / y.

With such high volatility of prices, the risk of contracting energy on the wholesale market has significantly increased (where sellers buy energy for resale to end users). This risk is transferred to entrepreneurs in the price of energy, which increases it by approx. 3-5%.

A way to protect your company is to receive an offer from the seller with the shortest possible validity period, even one or two hours. For such short periods, most sellers do not add the risk of volatility to the price. Therefore, it pays to make decisions quickly, of course after prior verification of the competitiveness of the offers submitted by sellers.

Fall in prices on the power exchange. Companies queue up for offers

The price offers that we obtained in recent days for our clients are even PLN 30-40 / MWh lower than those from two weeks ago (this change is largely due to the decline in prices of CO2 emission allowances). Entrepreneurs caught this moment, which can be seen in the number of inquiries about offers directed to sellers. Some of them recommend patience and make you wait for an offer for up to several days. The question is whether, with such high volatility of prices, the waiting period will bring further drops, or will prices return to previous levels or even break them?
